Sleepy-time Joe

"Sleepy-time Joe" is one of the many silly nicknames that the lady has come up with to describe me and my activities. She says she doesn't think about them; they "just happen." I'm guessing there is a part of her brain (and, based on her deficits in most other areas, a very large part) that is devoted solely to generating cat-related gibberish.

This is my favorite spot in the afternoon. The sun is low in the sky and comes through the window at just the right angle.

Winkum, Blinkum, and Nod.

Well, two of those are accounted for.

I was in the middle of cleaning my face when the lady took out the camera. As soon as I heard the "whir" sound I stopped and looked up. No, I am not "winking." I am annoyed.

And, just when I thought the coast was clear and I lifted up my paw toward my face, zaaaaap. Enough, already!

I Like Being Cozy

This is one of those fake wood-burning stoves. Although you wouldn't know it by looking at this photograph, it does have a really nice flame effect. And, as you can tell by my position in front of it, it has a very nice heater. Quiet, too. The lady first went the cheapo route and got a $99 brand. It was so loud that she packed it up and returned it. She then went to a local fireplace store where they had some nice electric fireplaces and "woodstoves". This one is a Dimplex and it has a quiet and effective heater. The flames look like gas logs. We've had this for three years and really like it.

You'll notice the word "quiet" is prominent in this post. The lady is big on "quiet."

My other cozy spot is the bed. It really is my bed, although I do let the lady sleep on the very edge of it. If I'm in a good mood.

I'm Not Dead!

Hello everybuddy. Long time no see. I am at the mercy of a crazy lady and if she does not feel like blogging for six months, I'm screwed. She is only posting today because I promised to cut back on the loud licking. Anyhoo, here are a couple photos of my most recent (and quite daring) adventures. Ciao! (Chow!)

Feather Fever

My favorite toy has some feathers on a string. It is kind of an old toy; it belonged to Elvis Pussley and Addie. For some reason, the lady kept it around. Since I like it so much, she is going to get me one of those "Nekko" toys she has heard about. I'll keep you posted.

My "Pal" Woody

You may recall from a previous post or two that the lady used to pet-sit for the former landlords' dog, Woody. He would come down to our place for a visit and I liked him even though I was a bit wary.

Woody with Butters the cat.

Woody and I enjoying the shade (last year).

Woody was diagnosed with bone cancer and three weeks ago he had his right rear leg amputated. The lady helped take care of him the past few weeks and she is happy to report that he is doing very well and is almost back to his old self!

A couple of days ago.  Just returned from a walk.

He gets around just fine on three legs. I won't be able to visit him anymore because we moved away and I am not a "traveling" cat, but I wish him the best.

Thinking of the "old days" with Woody.

Mouse-man

When I was an outside cat I had no interest in cat toys. Why would I? The world was my oyster (oysters...bleh!). I hunted many mice and gophers, chased leaves, and stalked trailing vines. Now that I am an indoor cat, I find that I enjoy toys. I started out with a large gray mouse, but I really prefer the tiny fur mice that come in very unmouse-like fluorescent colors. I play with them a lot (when I'm not sleeping). I'm also on a diet.

The Betrayal

Hello everyone! I've been quite busy helping the lady with this move. There was lots of cleaning, painting, organizing, and gnashing of teeth. I have many tales to tell (well, a couple of short stories), so let me begin.

Way back at the end of January, a few days before the lady planned to move into the new place, she wanted to take me to the vet's office to board for a couple of days. She put the carrier in the living room for a few weeks prior so that I would get used to it. One day, she put an open can of Fancy Feast in the carrier. I was curious, but initially walked away. Then, because I trust the lady, I went in the carrier. She shut the door! I started crying loudly. The entire 30 minute ride. The lady says she has never heard anything like it.

While I was at the vet's, the lady thought I should have check-up, a rabies shot, a FVRC-P vaccination, a urine test, and a "general health profile" (blood test). Because I was so distraught, they had to cover my carrier and give me some "gas" to knock me out. They then put me in a prison cage. The lady came to visit me that afternoon. As soon as I heard her voice, I started crying and howling. It was so loud and so pitiful that people came back to see what was going on. I had to stay at this place from Thursday until Saturday. I was then taken to our new home. I will tell you more about that in my next post.

Here I am engaged in my usual activities at the new place.

I'll Soon Be an Indoor Cat

We're moving and I'll become an indoor cat. Although we love living out here in a beautiful setting, the lady says we have to "downsize" (sheesh, she already lives in a 700 square foot cottage). We're moving to a little studio in Cambria within the next 30 to 60 days. She says I have to become a total indoor cat (although there is an enclosed brick patio where she will put my chair and she will "think about" letting me out there, maybe).

So, we won't be posting or visiting blogs very often over the next month or two, but we will try to keep you updated.

Here are some photos of me from two days ago. I'm enjoying the sun and thinking about the future.

Tummy Tuesday

I'm not fat. Really. When I lay on my side the super-fluffiness of my tummy is accentuated. But every time the lady sees this optical illusion she is re-affirmed in her decision to feed me some fancy-schmancy "lite" food. And she says this is why I get only a tablespoon of Fancy Feast as a snack.

Anyway, it was sunny for the past couple of days, so the lady took my photo two days ago. Today it is raining again and is very chilly.

Happy New Year everybody!
