Shady

It is hot. I don't like hot. I have a black fur coat which is a wonderful thing to have in the winter. The summer, not so much. I've made many complaints to the lady about turning down the heat, but for some unknown reason, she refuses to do anything about it. I don't understand this, because she usually indulges my every whim.

My dog-neighbor Woody came for a visit. If you remember from a previous post, we have a somewhat tenuous relationship. We don't quite trust each other. But, as you can see from the photo, we try to get along. We are sharing the shade of an umbrella (although why he gets a bed to lay on and I don't is a mystery to me). There is a nice bowl of cool water nearby. It is a pleasant way to spend a summer afternoon.

It's been hot here too. How nice that you found a shady spot to hang out.

Dear Mr. Black,
We think you are the smarter one, you obviously have better instincts than silly Woody. On a hot day, tiles in the shade are much cooler than fluffy beds which just absorb and collect heat.

Stygia has a black coat, like you, but she is also silly. She sits in the sun and heats herself up as if it were January.

Yours,
Abby Normal

Hey Mr. Black! Really glad to see you - we kept you on our blog list hoping you would come back!

We are sorry to hear about Elvis, but glad that you (and, we hope, your mom, too!) are doing well. We agree that it is very hot. Our humans have one window air conditioner here and some of us (Dobby) hang out in front of it all day.

We're not sure if our human will keep blogging or not - maybe on the weekend? She writes all day at work so it's hard for her - or so she says (you know how lazy humans are!)

P.S. Our mom got an e-mail message after we left a comment that said "Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

(she xxx'ed out the name of your ISP!)

If you e-mail her at katmish [at] gmail [dot] com, she can forward you the message.
